New Home, New Family: Complete Security & Life Safety

Home Security, Fire Protection, Water Monitoring

Recently, a client purchased his first home in Norwalk, Connecticut with his growing family and immediately began an extensive renovation. Homeowners choose to install an alarm system for various reasons—security while home, security while traveling, fire protection, or environmental concerns such as water and freeze damage.

Client Need

Beau and his pregnant wife purchased their first home together and immediately began an extensive renovation. As the project's completion date neared—along with their baby's due date—home security and life safety became top priorities.

The homeowners had four key requirements:

  • A local, family-owned security company in Connecticut with a strong reputation
  • Comprehensive entry-point protection for the newly renovated home
  • Supplemental monitored fire and carbon monoxide protection (unlike standard local smoke detectors that only make noise, a monitored system automatically notifies the fire department)
  • Environmental protection including water sensors and flood sensors to guard against water damage and
    freezing

Their search for a trusted local provider led them directly to American Total Protection.

Security System Solution

Since the home was close to completion and there was a tight timeline, it made sense to propose and install the Resideo ProSeries control panel and devices. This system is primarily wireless (the keypad/controller is wired but every other devices is wireless). This allowed ATP Alarms to install quickly and efficiently. With a new security sensors protecting entry points and smokes and carbon monoxides providing backup coverage to the primary smokes, we hope this new family and their future child sleep well!

The complete solution included:

  • New security sensors protecting all entry points of the home
  • Monitored smoke detectors providing backup fire protection beyond the home's primary smoke alarms
  • Monitored carbon monoxide detectors for whole-home life safety coverage
  • Water and flood sensors to detect and mitigate potential water and freeze damage

With this system in place, Beau, his wife, and their new child can rest easy knowing their home is protected around the clock.

When I was researching local family owned alarm companies in Connecticut, it was important that the company had stellar Google reviews and was responsive. American Total Protection checked those boxes. We are very happy with the end result.

Customer service matters. When choosing a service provider for your home or business, it is important to understand the providers’ customer service capabilities. Does the company have a support team? Do they have an on-call technician if there is an emergency? Does the company make paying the bill easy? How hard is it to schedule service? We all want to support local and small companies. However, it is important that your local business can service your account in an efficient manner.
Fairfield CT Home Alarm System Upgrade: A Modern Retrofit
By Rence Coassin May 9, 2025
Homeowners choose to buy an alarm system for a variety of reasons—theft, robbery, life safety (Smokes and Carbons, etc.). Depending on the wants, circumstances, and the needs of the customer, ATP designs a custom solution. If a homeowner or business has an existing alarm, American Total Protection does its best to utilize the working devices and infrastructure. In many cases, we can use everything. However, some times the devices are too old (smoke detectors and CO’s have a recommended replacement date) or wireless devices can be encrypted. ATP has the knowledge and experience to design systems that utilize existing components where applicable in order to control cost.
