Fire is a Necessary Disaster

Why Fire is a Necessary Disaster?

“U.S. fire departments responded to an estimated 1,240,000 _______. These _____ resulted in 3,240 civilian fire fatalities, 15,925 civilian ____ injuries and an estimated $11.5 billion in direct property loss. There was a civilian **** death every 2 hours and 42 minutes and a civilian ____ injury every 33 minutes in 2013. Home _____ caused 2,755, or 85%, of the civilian____ deaths. _____ accounted for four percent of the 31,644,500 total calls. Seven percent of the calls were false alarms; sixty-eight percent of the calls were for aid such as EMS.” (Fire Loss in the United States. NFPA Karter, Michael J. Sept 2014) Just reading those stats, you may think that the person or things behind those devastating events are monsters of sorts that should be eradicated. The culprits should be wiped out and there’s no need for that kind of action in our world, but what happens when you hear the culprit is FIRE . Still some say fire is a necessary disaster.

Fire … a reaction of oxygen in the air and some types of fuel. With the right fuel, temperature, and ignition, you have fire. Fire being one of 5 natural elements. These elements have been around the world for as longer than man has been walking and theories of before. This element is the reason behind all this property damage, injuries, and death but is the reason for so much more necessities in our life. The fire that causes death of wildlife is also contributed to the rebirth of next generation life forms that continues to give us oxygen which everyone in this world depends on.

“Fire ecology is concerned with the processes linking the natural incidence of fire in an ecosystem and the ecological effects of this fire. Many ecosystems, particularly prairie, savanna, chaparral and coniferous forests, have evolved with fire as a necessary contributor to habitat vitality and renewal. Many plant species in naturally fire-affected environments require fire to germinate, establish, or to reproduce. Wildfire suppression not only eliminates these species, but also the animals that depend upon them. Finally, fire suppression can lead to the build-up of flammable debris and the creation of less frequent but much larger and more destructive wildfires.” ( see Fire Ecology. Wikipedia )

If someone just heard of the results and not the culprit they would say who or what ever did that we do not need. But when you hear the culprit is fire , you start to question. This necessary element in nature causes some much devastation but brings us so much more. Fire will continue to be around until the worlds end and hence could be the worlds’ end as its powered by oxygen which is all around us. So yes, like bumble bees, the world needs fire.

With all of this fire, natural or otherwise, we need to be prepared should fire be used in the same sentence as our property or loved ones. At ATP Fire , we can help you be prepared. Often security alarms have two communication paths—one that is primary and one that is backup. ATP Alarms encourages all customers to have a back up form of communication in the event the primary fails. We believe that the best is setup for fast and reliable communication is internet/WiFi primary with cellular backup. We feel that the internet communication is the fastest while the cellular is most reliable. Traditional alarms relied on phone lines to communicate.
