Do Affordable Wireless Security Systems Exist?

Installing a home alarm system 25 years ago was luxury afforded only to people with considerable means. This involved the wiring of each individual sensor through the walls and back to the control panel. As you can imagine the labor costs involved in a hardwired system pushed the cost of a security system out of reach for most Americans, with average installation prices in the thousands of dollars . Over the past few years the technology and reliability of wireless alarm sensors have drastically decreased labor costs and security systems have become very affordable. No longer does a homeowner have to deal with long and often times messy installations. A licensed alarm technician can install an affordable wireless security system in a couple of hours providing peace of mind to the home owner without the large installation price tag .

A problem with many wireless alarm systems is that they can easily be defeated by a “smash and grab” technique . The idea of smash and grab is that the intruder is able to destroy the wireless alarm system during the delay time for disarming the system before the alarm can communicate to the central monitoring station. This problem has plagued wireless technology for years . However, Honeywell has employed a new technology in its Lynx 5100 wireless system which puts the problem to rest . The technology is called Advanced Protection Logic and it comes built into all Lynx 5100 systems that Honeywell has created and ATP Alarms installs. The technology is made possible through Honeywell ’s secure alarm transmission network called AlarmNet . With APL / Advanced Protection Logic turned on, as soon as an entry delay zone is breached , AlarmNet’s Network Control Center receives a signal and if an alarm or a disarm signal is not received by the end of the programmed entry delay time (because the security system has been destroyed), an alarm will still be sent to the central station. Simply put even though your security system is not able to communicate to the monitoring station AlarmNet knows that your system has been compromised because it did not receive a signal at the end of the delay time (either an alarm or that the system has been disarmed) and the monitoring station is notified.

This innovative technology has made wireless alarm systems every bit as effective as traditional wired ones. At ATP Alarms we work hard to embrace and deploy all the latest technology that comes to market. Advances such as this allow us at ATP to better protect our customers which is our goal every single day. With lower installation costs, and the wireless “smash and grab” problem solved, ATP can continue to provide top quality service at prices everyone can afford. At ATP alarms we believe security is a necessity not a luxury. Call now to arrange a free no hassle security review of your home or business.

ATP Alarms encourages all customers to have a back up form of communication in the event the primary fails.
