Why do I Have a Home Alarm System?
I have a home alarm in my house , but I don’t have all the features that they can come with. Nowadays, you can have thermostats, lighting, locks, cameras, and garage door openers all attached to your system through our Total Connect application . Recently, I have found out the hard way that I should probably be a product of what I am selling, home alarms.
My girlfriend and I recently made the decision to move in together (scary I know). The place we are renting is great, 3 floors, 2 bedrooms, one and a half bath, but the only problem is entering the condo. There are two different ways of entering, the front door which has a slide latch on it (think of hotel doors), and the second is thru the garage (only with a remote control). Working in the alarm industry I want as much safety as possible, that’s why I always make sure the front door latch is on. This can cause a problem in a situation like my first one, where I left my car at the auto shop. So the latch is in the door is in, my girlfriends car is in our closed garage with her remote, and my car is locked at the auto body shop. The night ended with a $65.00 cab ride to a friend’s house at 11:00 and one angry girlfriend.
This is the first time it really dawned on me that the garage door aspect of an alarm can be extremely beneficial serving multipurpose needs . Do you know how many times I’ve left to go to a party and thought to myself “ did I really leave the garage door open again? ” I will just tell you it’s about three times a week. That means that almost half of my week I am filled with anxiety and stress trying to figure out if I left the stupid door open again. It finally hit me that I would not only feel better about my safety, but it just makes my life that much more stress free and convenient .
It’s 2015, having the ability to look on your smart phone from anywhere and being able to tell if your door open is not just a luxury, it’s a necessity. Both of my parents grew up in the heart of New York and all the talk about is how they used to leave the front door unlocked. Nowadays, 10 minutes into a car ride she asking my father for the fifteenth time if the garage door is closed because she’s afraid of a potential break in.
