Summer, Babies and Home Security

Why Summer, Babies and Home Security Go Together?

Summer is the time for babies (check the stats) and home security. Whether it is the holiday spirit or the cold weather, conception tends to happen in the winter months. With summer almost in sight (those in the North East cannot wait for it to be warm again), it is time to for all those expecting parents to give ATP Alarms a call regarding a home security or home automation system. When installing an alarm with a new born on the way or if you already have infants, I always suggest the following.

Window contacts in the bedroom . I cannot emphasize enough the importance of contacting these windows for two main reasons.
1. Especially if the bedroom is on a second floor, we can program it to alert you whenever this window opens . This notifies you if your young child ever opens the window, thus allowing you to act before the possibility of disaster.
2. If the bedroom is on the ground level, it protects your child from the possibility of confronting a burglar or a kidnapper. I hate discussing this topic as it is terrifying to any parent but it is comforting to know that there is a solution to reduce this fear.

Smoke detector in the bedroom . Current code requires this; however, many old home are “grandfathered” in and have not made the proper safety enhancements. We can install a hardwired smoke detector or a wireless detector. If there is a fire in your infant’s bedroom, you need to act quickly. ATP Alarm ’s smoke detectors allow you to do just that and they will also notify the fire department in case you need help.

Automated thermostats . When a newborn joins a home, heating costs go up. In order to save money long term, look into our Z-wave thermostats. These thermostats allow you to control the individual devices from your smart phone. Sitting on the couch with your partner and want to know if your child’s room is warm enough? No need to get up, just check on your phone. We can also sync your thermostat with your alarm so that every time you activate the system, your heating/cooling system goes into energy saving mode.

A Total Connect camera . This allows you to check in on your child in real time . We can also set it up for motion alerts. Meaning, if your child gets up or out of his or her crib, you will be alerted by text or email.

The above products and services will better protect your family , give you a better peace of mind , save $$$, and help you to live a more efficient lifestyle. If you already have a security or home automation system, there is a high likelihood that we can use many if not all of the existing devices.

Please give ATP Alarms a call today to schedule your free consultation —we have solutions for any budget. Thank you for reading.

Security alarms can communicate via internet (hardwired or WiFi depending on the system), phone line, or cellular. Often security alarms have two communication paths—one that is primary and one that is backup. ATP Alarms encourages all customers to have a back up form of communication in the event the primary fails. We believe that the best is setup for fast and reliable communication is internet/WiFi primary with cellular backup. We feel that the internet communication is the fastest while the cellular is most reliable. Traditional alarms relied on phone lines to communicate.
