CO Detectors

Why are monitored CO detectors so important?

Seeing as how I have worked in the security industry for an extended period of time, I am always noticing new tendencies. One of these growing trends that I have been seeing is people wanting to have monitored carbon monoxide detectors installed into their security systems. If you know anything about carbon monoxide you will not blame them for their concern. Known as the “ silent killer ”, carbon monoxide is an odorless and colorless gas that can kill you within minutes , and is the cause of nearly 400 American fatalities per year. Having a monitored carbon monoxide detector as part of your security system is something that every home owner should consider, considering how difficult it is to detect.

One issue that I tend to face when discussing the topic of carbon monoxide detectors with customers is “Why would I pay for your detectors when I can just get them for a cheaper price at a home improvement store?”. My response to that question… what is more important to you, the health and well-being of you and your loved ones or saving a couple extra dollars? If you are a modern day Rip Van Winkle like myself, and can sleep thru just about anything then there are numerous reasons as to why monitored carbons are something you should consider. Contrary to popular belief, the basic battery operated carbon detectors and our carbon detectors do not work in the same way. A basic battery detector that you get from a home improvement store is not as loud as our sensors and will only go off in that one area that is exposed to the carbon; which can be terrible if you are not near a sensor and are asleep. With a monitored sensor you will without a doubt be awakened. This is because if one of your sensors detects the carbon, and the high pitched alarm will sound within your residence and you will receive a call from our monitoring station .

Another thing that I have noticed lately is that people who have been living in a house for a long time have never actually had their carbons detectors (if they even have them) switched. If you were thinking about buying new detectors there is no reason why you should not add monitored carbons to your home security system. For the few extra dollars you will not only get the best product but you would also be receiving some of the best service in the industry. Exposure to carbon monoxide can be life threatening , having monitored sensors that will let you know as soon as there is exposure would definitely help you sleep better at night, don’t you think? ATP Alarms encourages all customers to have a back up form of communication in the event the primary fails.
