An Alarm is Like Insurance

Learn How an Alarm is Like Insurance

You would be surprised how many of my alarm customers have never had an alarm before now. With all of the crimes today I wonder, why is that? To me an alarm is like insurance, when you have it, you don’t need it. Actually, you should have insurance and you should have an alarm, because you really need both.

A clients hesitation could be for many reasons, like; “oh I have a dog” or “I have a gun” or, “Nobody wants my stuff” and the classic- “We are all safe in this neighborhood”. The facts stack up quite differently unfortunately.

Dogs ; your dog could get hurt or worse during a break in. Make no mistake, burglars are bad guys. I have read horror stories on the internet about oven cleaner being sprayed on the dogs face, this is done to incapacitate a dog, but it could kill it. I’ve heard of dogs even being kid napped. At my house our dog is part of the family. Pictured are Layla and her visiting brother Bear.

Guns ; Then there is that arsenal of guns that could get stolen while no one was home. Guess where those guns end up, yup… on the street. Guns are a favorite target of burglars.

Nothing of value ; usually, burglars don’t know what is in the house. They’re looking for jewelry, guns, money and drugs. Many people assume that because they don’t have much, somehow the thieves know this too. When a burglar selects a target, part of the reason is that they think nobody’s home.

If your home is burglarized it can change your life, but there are more reasons to have a home security system- Life Safety. At ATP Alarms, I am a security consultant and as such I see and hear it all. The one thing I don’t like is when after something happens, the customer calls me and wants an alarm tomorrow. I would have rather protected them by installing an alarm system before they need it.

Did you know heat, smoke and CO detectors are some of the major life safety concerns in your home? A monitored detector for fire/ smoke or CO can save your life and the lives of your pets too. We cannot forget your home investment and everything that’s important to you. This is why I talk about Fire/Smoke and CO detection. I want you to develop a family plan to where all of you meet outside if there is a fire for instance. This way everyone is safely out of the home and can quickly determine who is missing. So please do yourself a favor and have a fire escape plan for your family.

As a security consultant, I know that when I visit your home, I can educate you on how easy the alarm works, and teach you about the other equipment options that can enhance your system and your peace of mind. Security alarms can communicate via internet (hardwired or WiFi depending on the system), phone line, or cellular. Often security alarms have two communication paths—one that is primary and one that is backup. ATP Alarms encourages all customers to have a back up form of communication in the event the primary fails. We believe that the best is setup for fast and reliable communication is internet/WiFi primary with cellular backup. We feel that the internet communication is the fastest while the cellular is most reliable. Traditional alarms relied on phone lines to communicate.
