Name Shopping

Name Shopping vs Service Shopping

Although a lot has changed since I was a youngster, there is one tendency that has not wavered throughout the years. When shopping for merchandise, most people tend to gravitate towards brand names, hence the term name shopping . For instance, when it comes to the sunglass industry, most people do not know that a substantial portion of sunglasses on the market come from the same manufacturer. So more often than not, when you decide on a set of sunglasses, you’re most likely paying for the company name. I bring up this scenario up because the same can be said about a situation where you’re deciding between a “big name” company and ATP Alarms. That is why I am here, writing this blog, to stop the world from name shopping (at least in the security industry I hope).

Just like in any sales oriented industry, when you first start looking for potential clients, you tend to ask family and friends. I did not have much success because most of my parents’ friends had existing alarm systems, but that’s not what bothered me. It was the response I was getting of “ we went with company X because we recognized their name ” that took me by surprise. When purchasing a security system , I think a more adequate answer would be “they provide the best products, protection, and service”, don’t you think? If you answered yes, then there is no reason why ATP Alarms should not be your first option. Am I bias? You might think so, but here are some fun facts that will prove my point.

Point 1 : Honeywell produces the best products in the security industry , plain and simple. Seeing as how Honeywell is such a highly regarded company, they only allow a select group of companies to label themselves as authorized and trained dealers . ATP Alarms (American Total Protection) happens to be one of them. Many of the largest companies do not qualify due to their work ethic after the sale. (Insert “yeah, so, a lot of companies offer Honeywell products” here)

Point 2 : Seeing as how we are small family owned business , we are able to tend to all of our customers’ needs. Have you ever heard of those nightmare stories where people want to add a product or change their system and it takes a company two weeks to get out to their location? That does not occur at ATP because we have a technician on call 24 hours a day . We take pride in our customer service and make sure to take care of your needs in a timely manner.

Point 3 : If you are a business and want to consolidate your bills, don’t worry we monitor fire panels and run test and inspections for extinguishers, and sell and service security camera systems too.

Point 4 : Oh, you’ve seen these commercials where you can use your smart phone to arm your system , lock your doors , and control your thermostats ? Don’t worry, we’ve got that covered, in fact, we’ve teamed up with a real estate agency to protect an entire neighborhood with our “ smart house ” technology. (See blog titled: “ Richmond Glen: the smart project ”)

Point 5 : Did I mention we’re a family owned company who has taken pride in protecting our communities for over 15 collective years and a collective experience of over 100 years?

When it comes to a security system, please do yourself a favor and chose a service instead of a name . Testimonials speak louder than numbers in this industry. ATP Alarms is American Total Protection, protect who you love.

Security alarms can communicate via internet (hardwired or WiFi depending on the system), phone line, or cellular. Often security alarms have two communication paths—one that is primary and one that is backup. ATP Alarms encourages all customers to have a back up form of communication in the event the primary fails. We believe that the best is setup for fast and reliable communication is internet/WiFi primary with cellular backup. We feel that the internet communication is the fastest while the cellular is most reliable. Traditional alarms relied on phone lines to communicate.
